ROYAL CITY — School will start as scheduled for students attending Red Rock Elementary School in Royal City.
“We are still on schedule to start school on Sept. 3,” said Royal School District Superintendent Roger Trail. “Phase one and phase two will be occupied. Construction will continue on the middle section of the building.”
On Aug. 24, the school published a list of frequently asked questions that explains how school will operate until the construction is complete.
“All of kindergarten and first grade will be in the building in our remodeled classrooms,” said the article. “We will have two second grade classes and four third grade classes in the portables until phase three is complete. We will convert a few portables into a cafeteria for serving breakfast and lunch.”
Meals will be prepared at Royal High School and transported to Red Rock for breakfast and lunch. The third phase of construction, which includes the cafeteria, gymnasium, office and several classrooms, is expected to be completed this fall.
In an article published to the school’s website on Aug. 20, parents and guardians were asked to abide by the following rules when dropping off and picking up students:
• No parking or unattended vehicles in pick-up/drop-off area.
• No stopping to pick up or drop off in the traffic lane. Students will not be released to cross through traffic.
• If you need to come inside the school please use a parking space.
“It is critical that everyone follows the parking/traffic rules, as we are going to be very strict about enforcing these rules during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up,” said the Aug. 20 article. “Cars must not be left unattended in the loading zones, traffic must be moving in the traffic lane, and students will not be allowed to cross traffic except on crosswalks. The good news is we will have more room, better flow, and plenty of parking!”
